Well, I had been running dota on AMD laptop for 3 years. No problem. Any Discrete GPU should handle dota well.
Your processor was a bit outdated though, to be frank. But an althon x 2 should be able to fare well...(athough an intel dual core should be better than an AMD).
If your video driver is updated, and things run fine, thing should be ok...

I think processor doesn't make a big difference when it comes to gaming performance. Video cards and memories affects the performance more than processors.
